SOY has a dedicated academic room which provides a quiet space away from home where students can study, use SOY’s computers and WIFI connection, print out assignments, work on homework, and collaborate on projects with their peers. Our students often do not have this type of space or the resources in their crowded apartments and therefore enjoy coming to SOY.

I have never been out of the local area so this trip was amazing. I not only fell in love with basically all the schools in NorCal, but I also fell in love with the cities along the way. This was the best week ever!

One thing I really liked about the trip was being able to interact with other SOY kids who also want to get into college like me.

If it weren't for the SOY program I would've blindly chosen or not even considered a school up north. I wouldn't have ever been able to visit these schools on my own.

All students, whether they have signed a college-bound contract or not, can take advantage of
Free Tutoring. SOY has dedicated one-on-one tutors to help students with their academic classes, including AP courses and higher-level math and science classes. SOY also has bilingual tutors to help our Spanish speaking students learning to navigate difficult classes while learning English.
Volunteer tutors include UCI and other local college students, SOY alumni, and members of the broader community. SOY also has College Corps Fellows from Vanguard University working at SOY as tutors and mentors. SOY also has many students from UCI and Chapman, among other universities, doing internships at SOY and Capstone projects researching first-generation college bound students.
